Add Some Sparkle to Your July Fourth Festivities

Add Some Sparkle to Your July Fourth FestivitiesIn America, there’s nothing better to celebrate than our freedom. But maybe this year you’re looking for ways to jazz up the annual hotdogs, hamburgers and fireworks. We’ve got some great ideas to add fun, patriotic twists on your favorite July shindig. Try a few of these ideas out this year and let us know how it goes!

Fruit Cubes

Place red and blue berries in ice cube trays, fill with water and freeze. When it’s time to serve drinks, add a classy, festive twist to your beverages!

Patriotic Utensils

Make grabbing utensils in the food line easy and festive! Wrap utensils up in red, white and blue bandanas, tie with string or jute, and place in a basket with a patriotic bow. What a perfect, functional way to dress up your display!

Fruit Kabobs

Gather up your favorite red, white and blue fruits and skewer them! Here are some to include:

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Bananas
  • Watermelon (you can use cookies cutters to cut into star shapes!)
  • Apples

Fruit Tarts

Serve a fresh, semi-healthy dessert to your guests. Fruit tarts are refreshing and perfect for summer. And you can use our convenient list above to choose your patriotic colored toppings. Easy peasy.

Red, White and Blue Art

If you’re having a block party, purchase plenty of sidewalk chalk and offer the kids red, white and blue to decorate sidewalks, cul-de-sacs and more. You can also purchase liquid/spray chalk and use templates to paint stars and fireworks on your lawn, driveway or porch.

Kids Crafts

You’ll want to occupy the kids so the adults can have some time to themselves, right? Set up a few activity tables. Popsicle sticks, glue, and paint or markers allow kids to make Popsicle stick flags. Patriotic coloring sheets and crayons are great for younger kids, and red, white and blue beads with string or pipe cleaners allow for simple jewelry creations. You don’t have to plan extensive activities to keep kids happy!

Fun and Games

While you never want to over plan your party, it’s fun to have one or two games or activities for guests to partake in. For Fourth of July, consider going old school. Arrange potato sack and three-legged races. Set up a croquet course, corn hole or horse shoes, and have Frisbees available. For kids, simple water balloon tosses or hunting for hidden stars around the yard work great! Grab some cherry lollipops for prizes, and you’ll be all set!
